Dewey-Humboldt newest member of CYMPO

The Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization Executive Board voted to approve adoption of a resolution authorizing the addition of the Town of Dewey-Humboldt as a participating agency of the regional transportation planning organization.

Additionally, the Board approved a motion to seat the D-H representative, Councilman David Nystrom, to the Executive Board.

When CYMPO Chairman Michael Flannery welcomed Nystrom as the newest member, Nystrom received a standing ovation from the participating members.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization is one of nearly 400 in the nation in which elected officials, technical staff, Federal, State and local agencies collaborate with stakeholders and the public on transportation issues, projects, and initiatives.

The MPO is governed by an executive board consisting of elected officials from the region and an Arizona Department of Transportation State Transportation Board member.

CYMPO includes the towns of Chino Valley, Prescott Valley, and Dewey-Humboldt, City of Prescott, Yavapai County, and ADOT.

The partnership was established in June 2003 by federal mandate and designated by the Governor when the region achieved a population of 50,000.

Its purpose is to cooperatively plan the transportation future of the Central Yavapai region that falls within the 401.46 square miles of the MPO Planning Boundary.
