During a law enforcement detail Saturday aimed at deterring underage drinking in Yavapai County, 11 local businesses sold alcohol to minors.

The detail visited 50 businesses throughout Yavapai County, according to a release from the Prescott Valley Police Dept.

The PV Police Department, Prescott Police Department, Cottonwood Police Department, Sedona Police Department, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and the MAT Force Underage Drinking Task Force have partnered on several recent projects in an effort to combat the serious problem of underage drinking.

On Saturday, the listed police agencies partnered to host a Covert Underage Buyer (C.U.B.) detail throughout Yavapai County. A C.U.B. detail is designed to ensure that retailers are complying with state liquor laws and checking identifications at all point-of-sale alcohol purchases.

This is the third C.U.B. detail facilitated by participating police agencies since December 2008. In the past year, 25 establishments of 161 failed the compliance checks, resulting in the issuance of approximately 60 criminal citations, the release said.

The Arizona Department of Liquor (DLLC) also takes administrative action against the offending the establishments.

Along with the recent C.U.B. details, participating agencies recently enlisted the aid of local restaurants in distributing 10,000 "Draw The Line" flyers throughout Yavapai County.

Businesses who passed the compliance check will be receiving a "Thank You" card and Wal-Mart gift card for $10 to recognize the business and the individual employee who passed the compliance check.

The best way to stop the sale to minors is to post the name of the business and then everybody boycott that business until the comply with the law. When you hit the pocket. book then it hurts
