County education agency offers school board candidate training

The Yavapai County Education Service Agency invites all prospective governing board candidates to attend a meeting where they can pick up packets of information about what is required to run for office.

The agency will provide guidance on circulating petitions, the number of signatures required, filing dates, establishing a campaign committee, and the $500 threshold exemption option. Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter and School Elections Coordinator Robin Bascom will conduct the training, which includes an opportunity for questions and answers.

A local meeting will take place Tuesday, May 4, 6 p.m., Yavapai County Administrative Building, Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, 1015 Fair Street, 1st Floor, Prescott.

There is no charge to attend. Candidates who can not attend the training may pick up packets at the Yavapai County Education Service Agency Office at 1015 Fair Street, room 324, in Prescott, on or after May 3. If you have questions, please contact Robin Bascom at Robin.Bascom@co.yavapai.az.us, 928-771-3326 or Tim Carter at Tim.Carter@co.yavapai.az.us, 928-925-6560.

Terms expiring on the Humboldt Unified School District board are Pres. Gary Marks and newest member Scott Paulson. Both terms end Dec. 31, 2010.
