For the second straight year, Prescott Valley's water system has been named the Water System of the Year for systems in communities under 50,000 population by the Arizona Water & Pollution Control Association.
"This is an incredible and unbelievable achievement. It is the result of the hard work and dedication of the entire Prescott Valley water team (OMI and town staff)," CH2M Hill OMI's Project Director John Bowman said.
He added, "To now have been recognized two consecutive years and three of the last four for operation excellence is directly related to the commitment of the entire project team."
AWPCA presented the award at its annual conference in Mesa in April.
Neil Wadsworth, Utilities Divisiion manager, said, "The town is very pleased to have them (OMI) as the water system's operators. For the past five to six years they have helped the town to have an excellent water system. Thanks for all the hard work."
Bowman said OMI's leadership and dedication to quality service is evidenced by the staff's other accomplishments.
"During our 10-year tenure serving the Town of Prescott Valley, our staff has received 26 awards, including:
"Fourteen safety awards (internal and external).
"Five awards for operations excellence.
"Seven awards among our associates for individual leadership in the industry," he said.
Bowman said, "A comparison of Prescott Valley's water systems, operating costs, and operations efficiency done using the American Water Works Association's Benchmarking - Performance Indicators for Water and Wastewater Utilities: Survey Data and Analysis Report shows the Prescott Valley water system excels in both cost and efficiency."
"OMI understands the importance of being innovative, resourceful, and flexible partners with the town, residents, professional organizations and regulatory agencies to provide the best solutions for their utility and environmental needs," he said.
