WILLIAMS — A night after edging Camp Verde by one run in the opening round, Prescott Valley run-ruled Wickenburg, 18-3, in the semifinals to advance to today’s Arizona District 10 Little League Majors Tournament of Champions at Cureton Park.
Prescott Valley’s Team Hunt (13-3 overall record) will face Verde Valley for the title at 2 p.m. today, June 3. Verde Valley eliminated Chino Valley, 12-0, in the tournament’s other semi.
Against Wickenburg, Prescott Valley pitcher Mason Hunt went four innings in the rout.
“Everybody hit well, and we had four or five triples,” PV manager Stephen Hunt said.
“Everybody did amazing. We’ve got our No. 1 and No. 2 pitchers available to pitch in the championship, including starter Kishan Patel and Easton Fowler out of the bullpen.”
Versus Camp Verde on Friday night, Prescott Valley’s Treyton Skipper scored the eventual winning run after tripling in the top of the sixth inning. Easton Fowler pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth to end it for PV.
“He [Skipper] was huge last night. It was a complete team effort, though,” manager Hunt said. “We used four different pitchers. Everybody chipped in.”
